At long last, Nintendo announced the newest titles to the Pokémon franchise earlier this morning. Pokémon Shield and Sword are the eighth generation of Pokémon games to date.

The details

Pokémon Shield and Pokémon Sword are the first traditional Pokémon RPG games to be released on a home console and they look great.

Pokémon Shield and Sword takes place in a new region dubbed ‘Galar’. Like always, the game sports a new set of mascots that players can choose from.

Like always, the names get weirder. (image credit VG47.com)

Rumours have it that part of the region is based in a faux-England – something Nintendo likes to do.
