Just announced! Yu-Gi-Oh!‘s Yugi Mutou is revealed as the 16th character of Jump Force. Since the game’s reveal at E3, over 9 characters from the biggest anime franchises have been announced. Big names including Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z, and Gon and Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter. Despite being confirmed as a playable character, Bandai-Namco won’t spill anything on Yugi’s moveset. So far, speculation points to his game mechanics resembling a summoner, using the cards as his moveset, with a final attack featuring Exodia. However, until Bandai is ready to spill the beans, fans are left guessing.
Who’s Next?
In the meantime, hype is building for the next character reveal. Though Bandai-Namco has kept very tight-lipped on the plot behind Jump Force. Based on the character release patterns, we can assume the game will include at least two “heroes” and one villain from each of its respective franchises. So far the exception being One Piece, which currently takes up 1/3rd of the roster.
Seto Kiba
Pulling from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series, it would be a no-brainer to add Kiba to the roster. The character has had a long running popularity within the franchise. Sometimes more well known than Yugi in the West thanks to memes and YouTube parodies like Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged. All fun aside, Kiba has always been Yugi’s main rival, with a relationship that has developed overtime in the same way as Vegeta and Goku’s, slowly turning from enemy to ally. Thus Kiba would make an excellent plus one to Yugi’s addition.
Sakura Haruno
Speculation abound, its tough to figure out who else will make the cut. However the current lack of female characters may give us a clue. Right now the Naruto line-up is one of the smallest, featuring only Naruto and Sasuke. So you can bet the missing member of their team 7 trio will be added to the list.
Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo
Better known as Deku and Kacchan, the two fan-favorites from the most recent addition to the Jump family, My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero). Though the anime aired just two years ago, the franchise’s popularity has skyrocketed, placing the young heroes on par with the game’s already globally famous line-up.
