More manga, more moolah: Shonen Jump price increase takes effect next year

In the West, the Shonen Jump app is one of the best deals for legal manga readers. However, all good things must come to an end, with the service getting a price change. The Shonen Jump price increase will occur starting in January, from $1.99 to $2.99 in the United States. For those in other supported countries, the price will change according to local currency rates.

In an email sent from VIZ Media to a Google Play subscriber:

Dear Shonen Jump Member,

We want you to know that beginning in January 2023 the Shonen Jump monthly subscription price will increase from $1.99 to $2.99. Google will contact you directly regarding the exact date this change will affect your subscription.

Since Shonen Jump launched in 2018, we’ve added over 50% more manga from One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and so many more of your favorites. We’ve also added hit series like Spy x Family, Hunter x Hunter, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, along with special releases like Death Note Short Stories and Akira Toriyama’s Manga Theater.

Our updated price reflects our commitment to continue bringing you the best manga straight from Japan. We’re so excited to show you what we have coming in the new year.

Thank you for being an important part of Shonen Jump.

-The Shonen Jump team at VIZ Media While the annual membership goes from $24 to $36 in the US, the Shonen Jump app remains a great deal. VIZ Media recently dropped full series runs of classics like Hunter X Hunter and some Parts for Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. In addition, new chapters are added weekly, with hits like My Hero Academia in the rotation. Will you still subscribe to the service?
