Kodansha announced that the first three episodes of Tomorrow’s Joe (Ashita no Joe) will be available on the TMS Official YouTube channel starting November 1. This limited time event is in conjunction with the upcoming December release of Kodansha’s release. This new omnibus will feature over five hundred pages of the critically acclaimed manga.
About the Ashita no Joe Anime
Tetsuya Chiba’s legendary manga depicting the life of future boxing champion Joe Yabuki, Ashita no Joe was adapted into an anime and was broadcast on April 1970 in Japan. The epic’s iteration spanned 79 episodes, with 49 subsequent episodes added in Ashita no Joe 2 (Tomorrow’s Joe 2) ten years later in 1980 and marking its place as a standard for all sports anime to follow. The TV series was reworked into two feature-length animated movies, and have since inspired countless anime and sports fans for generations to come. Ashita no Joe 2 (Tomorrow’s Joe 2) is currently available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
To commemorate the English-language debut of Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow from Kodansha USA, TMS Entertainment will be premiering the first three episodes of the Tomorrow’s Joe (Ashita no Joe) anime series for the first time ever for American audiences on the Anime! on TMS Official Youtube Channel.
Since its initial release in 1970, the anime Tomorrow’s Joe has left a major impact on Japanese culture and is still largely considered one of the pioneers of sports driven anime to this day. Directed by the legendary Osamu Dezaki (Astro Boy, Space Adventure Cobra), the first season of Tomorrow’s Joe spanned 79 episodes. The series received the sequel Tomorrow’s Joe 2 in 1980 to conclude the saga, with its iconic ending forever cementing the series into anime history
